The Hudson Hotel was the place to be at on March 26th for the private listening event for Def Jam recording artist, singer August Alsina’s upcoming debut album ‘Testimony’ which is scheduled for release April 15th in honor of the singers slain brother’s birthday. Hosted by NY radio personality of Power 105.1 Angela Yee and sponsored by Beats by Dre, the ambiance was beautiful and serene for August to display the album that he’s clearly put his all into. Upon stepping into the room you could see August being humbled by the number of people who came out to embrace his album and anxiously jumps straight into his tracklist. From start to finish ‘Testimony’ takes you on a joyride through August’s eventful life. Touching on topics from the women he’s encountered to the untimely passing of his brother, he quickly separates himself from your average “cookie cutter” R and B album. What’s another thing that separates him? Maybe it’s the support he’s receiving so early in his career from some of the top veteran’s in the game. It was almost as if Hip Hop heavyweights Dj Khaled, Fabolous and Pusha T were knighting August into the Elite Artist Club. To cap the night off August was presented with his first gold plaque for his smash single “I Luv This S***”. Overflowed with emotion August could hardly lift his plaque up but once he did it was with pride and confidence as he knows it won’t be his last, thanks his supporters by stating “It feels so good to know you guys rock with a kid like me, I know hard times, I know what it is to struggle, and this project is for the people; I just appreciate the love”.
The Dopeness Mag family would love to say congrats to August and thanks for allowing us to share such a milestone with you.
