Retired professionals usually find time and money to make a grand investment. Floyd Mayweather is no exception. The former boxer and five division world champion now is looking to trade in gambling for an NBA team. Many boxing fans around the world are still waiting on that 50th signature win but the news of Mayweather’s interest in becoming an NBA owner may sadden those still holding their breath.

Mayweather announced these intentions at a recent press conference promoting the Ashley Theophane and Adrian Broner fight in the works.

“You guys know I like to bet on sports, but I’m looking forward to stepping back from betting in sports right now…….I’m looking forward to probably getting into ownership of an NBA team.”

The 39-year old has been known to attend games for both Los Angeles teams in the Lakers and Clippers. He also frequents Miami Heat games. It is believed that there he met Manny Pacquiao in person to negotiate terms of a fight they later had.

Mayweather had expressed interest in buying teams like the Clippers when he wasn’t betting $13 million on Super bowl XLVIII.
