BMW says white is more popular and Apple is to blame
For nearly ten years, silver was the color of choice for American car buyers. It is preferred by automotive designers for showing off a new cars styling. But silver has been overthrown by white. Yes, shocking and unbelievable, but true. And Apple is responsible.
Sandy McGill, BMW Designworks’ lead designer in color, materials, and finish, says Apple computer has made white expensive and, especially to the luxury market, priceless.
“Prior to Apple, white was associated with things like refrigerators or the tiles in your bathroom. Apple made white valuable.”
But not to worry. White isn’t taking over the car market. For now, it’s brown.
