After releasing “Way Back” feat. Snoop Dogg and “Haters”, TLC released the next single off their final upcoming self-titled album. With “American Gold”, the R&B duo tackles some deep seeded issues going on within the world, home and abroad. The song features soothing vocals coming from T- Boz, and Chilli over slow piano chords supported by a deep baseline; you can’t help but feel the emotion on the Kayo produced track. “Kind of like what’s going on in America today. It speaks to that.” said T-Boz in a vlog post about the track before it’s commercial release.
The group has built another impressive track reminiscent of their 1994 hit “Waterfalls”. Surprisingly doing so without the spark of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. Even without the rambunctious attitude and star power of Lopes, TLC has given audiences one of most empowering songs of summer so far. It has been almost 15 years since TLC has stepped back into the limelight. Releasing their last commercial project, “3D” in 2002. This was only months after the death of Lopes. After hosting a Kickstarter campaign in January of 2015 fans flooded the best-selling female group of all time with support. Raising over 430,000 dollars in donations, fans were told about the new album’s upcoming release. The only feature listed on the album is from Snoop Dogg on the song “Way Back”. T-Boz and Chilli have already stated they will continue performing as a duo and tour but will retire the group name of TLC. TLC’s last and final goodbye to fans everywhere will be June 30th.
