Lady Gaga once again took a very public platform to fight for issues she believes in. At the 88th annual Academy Awards. Gaga played the song “Til it Happens to you” on a piano as she advocated for the stop of sexual assault.  Fellow artist Kesha took to Instagram to thank Gaga for her fight against the criminal act.

Kesha is currently dealing with her own alleged sexual abuse by music producer Dr. Luke who she says sexually and mentally abused her. Lady Gaga, a rape victim herself, was joined by victims of a rape and sexual assaults to take the stage with her. They displayed messages highlighting the songs message written along their bodies.

Kesha not only thanked Lady Gaga but also Vice President Joe Biden as well. He introduced Gaga and urged viewers to take a pledge to stop sexual assault on campuses everywhere.
