Adam Schefter confirmed that the Pittsburgh Steelers will be discharging their seventh year outside linebacker tomorrow, because of salary compensation issues. Lamarr is the fourth player discharged by the Steelers this offseason, alongside Cornerback Curtis Brown, Linebacker Larry Foote and Left Tackle Levi Brown. Lamarr is most notable the biggest name in that group, and he additionally had the greatest pay between his teammates; Which is the reason Pittsburgh will be cutting him. Woodley has been a significant player for Pittsburgh since his newbie year in 2007, however with years of delicate tissue damages and less and less playing time, Woodley is simply not worth it anymore.
The Steelers needed to clear some top room up to potentially sign players to their program, while Pittsburgh is not known for their vicinity in free organization, it does appear to be likely that Pittsburgh will dunk their toe in the free agents pool in the not so distant future. With yawning gaps at the running back, and wide recipient positions it appears sensible that the Steelers could be making a few offers to demonstrated veterans at those positions.
